Food Waste
The United States is the global leader in food waste, with Americans discarding nearly 40 million tons of food every year.1 That’s 80 billion pounds of food and equates to more than $161 billion2, approximately 219 pounds3 of waste per person and 30-40 percent of the US food supply. Most of this food is sent to landfills; food is the single largest component taking up space inside US landfills. In fact, it makes up 22 percent of municipal solid waste (MSW).
Gold Coast has a few programs that can help tackle this terrible waste. Food waste needs to be separated first so ask us about our container/cart options for both small and large scale food applications.

AEROBIC BIO-DIGESTER or FOOD-DIGESTER
Bio-digesters are used to hyper accelerate the break down of food waste into either an effluent or gray water, or organic material.
There are a few pieces of equipment available for this task. Those are demonstrated int eh videos to your left.
In general, bio-digesters take 24 hours to complete a cycle, have some restrictions on the foods that can be processed and do require both water and power.
Aerobic digesters can process anywhere from 250 to 2,000 pounds of food waste per day using oxygen, microorganisms and warm water to break down food. Compared with anerobic digestion and composting, aerobic digestion is an accelerated process.
Gold Coast partners with various companies that provide plastics recycling programs, organics recycling, reverse logistics and so much more.
